February 3, 2011
Throughout the month of January, I challenged myself to take a photo of the kids each day. You can check out more about the images on the photomommas blog. Below is the intro to the first day:
“Every January brings a time where I can
breathe in between all of the work that still needs to be done. It is a
time where my mind wanders and dreams of what’s to come. It is a time
where I want to catch up with Gabe and Claire…experience their world a
bit more. The fall is such a busy time for us that there are times
where the camera doesn’t approach their faces at all…and that bothers
me.
I somehow came across Kristen Cook’s
photography blog. It may have been a random find, but for me it was
perfect timing. Each year she does something called ‘Photo-A-Day’ where
she takes a photo of her children every day for the month of January. I
loved this idea and decided to embark on it. I know it will be
something that I can look back on years from now allowing my heart to
relive one month with them at these ages…the missing tooth, the
expressions, all of it.”
So, this was our month. I love having pictures of our kids, of course. However, I had no idea that taking a few minutes each day to capture them would mean this much to me. This tidbit has inspired me to continue this in some form. It may not be every day, but the habit has formed and I look forward to cherishing these moments years from now. Happy Thursday!
